Before you order and install your new entry doors, you need to determine the correct door size. This is made simple with the following step-by-step instructions. For further information about measuring accessories and add-ons, please also refer to our downloadable guide.
What do you need?:
- Pen
- Paper
- Measuring tape
- Blueprint, if necessary
Please note: With the person measuring remaining inside, both the inside and outside of the entry door should be measured with the dimensions noted in millimeters. Please include any additional door fittings in your measurements, such as frame extensions, side panels and upper fanlights.
2. Measure the Entry Door’s Width
Measure the full width of your wall’s opening, once at the top and once at the bottom. If these measurements differ, note down the smaller value. A slight installation allowance for the new frame should then be deducted. This will ensure that the new frame fits snugly into the opening.
Example: Entry door with a width of 1000 mm
► 1000 mm - (2 x 10 mm installation allowance) = 980 mm
3. Measure the Entry Door’s Height
Determine the full height of your wall’s opening by measuring from its top edge down to the top of the floor. Do this once on the left-hand side and once on the right. If these measurements differ, note down the smaller value. A slight installation allowance for the new frame should then be deducted.
Example: Entry door with a height of 2000 mm
► 2000 mm - (2 x 10 mm installation allowance) = 1980 mm
